Mitsubishi has released the first official teaser of its upcoming Global Small Car that will be unveiled at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show in March.

Mitsubishi says the Global Small Car will use an engine sized between 1.0- and 1.2-liters equipped with regenerative braking and stop-start system.

Many of the Global Small Concept’s components have been lightened and the body styling has an emphasis on low aerodynamic drag.

A more slippery body shape, weight reduction throughout the car, and reducing resistance in the engine, CVT transmission, brakes and tires help the CO2 reduction. The CO2 target is in the 'mid-90g/km range' thanks to a combination of fuel-saving technologies.

Mitsubishi says the car is designed to be compact, affordable and highly fuel efficient. The production of the Global Small Car will begin in Thailand in March-2012.
