Jaguar C-X75 Gets Production Green Light
Jaguar announced it would build 250 examples of the C-X75, the 205 mph green supercar unveiled at the Paris Auto Show last September.
When it ships in late 2013, Jaguar C-X75 will be priced from £700,000 to £900,000, roughly $1.1 million to $1.5 million at current exchange rates.
Jaguar C-X75 will feature a hybrid drivetrain, although the company has not ruled out using the gas turbines seen in the original concept, which debuted at the 2010 Paris Motor Show.
Jaguar will work with Williams F1, which will provide engineering expertise in areas such as aerodynamics, carbon composite manufacture and hybrid technologies.
"Confirmation of this project today signposts Jaguar Land Rover's continued determination to embrace new technologies," said Jaguar Land Rover CEO, Dr Ralf Speth. "A supercar like the C-X75 is the logical choice to showcase cutting-edge design, intelligent use of new environmental technologies and motorsport-inspired performance."Jaguar says that the C-X75 will hit (100km/h) 62 mph in 3.4 seconds and will go from 80 to 145km/h (50 to 90 mph) in just 2.3 seconds, with a potential top speed of 330km/h (205mph).
Whereas Jaguar estimated the concept car’s purely electric range at 110km (68 miles), the figure has been detuned to roughly 50km (31 miles) for production.
Meanwhile CO2 emissions are forecast at less than 100g/km of CO2, an amazingly low figure for such a potent car.
