Porsche 918 Spyder Hybrid Reach 900 Potential Buyers
Porsche has reportedly recorded nearly 900 potential buyers for its 918 Spyder hybrid concept as the German carmaker gets closer to approving production of the vehicle.
Porsche, which unveiled the 918 Spyder hybrid at the Geneva Motor Show last month, will move forward with a production 918 Spyder if that number crosses the 1,000 threshold."I'm confident that we will soon reach the threshold of 1,000. We need 1,000 seriously interested people to make a sound business case," Wolfgang Duerheimer, development chief for Porsche, said in an interview at the Beijing Auto Show.
Porsche 918 Spyder hybrid is powered by a high-revving 500-horsepower V8 engine as well as electric motors on the front and rear axle with overall mechanical output of 218 horsepower (160 kW), allowing the vehicle to go up to 25 kilometers on electric power.
