Full Aptera 2e Specs Released

The official specifications for the production version of the Aptera 2e have been released at the Technology, Entertainment, Design (TED) conference at Long Beach California.

The 1500lb (680kg) curb weight Aptera 2e (previously called Typ-1) will have a 60 ft/lb (81 Nm) electric motor driving the front wheels through a 10:1 single speed gearbox powered by a lithium ion phosphate battery pack with capacity of 10-13 kWh.

There could be an optional pack capable of extending range from the standard 100 miles up to 125 miles. The Aptera 2e electric motor output might be in the range of 100 hp (75kw). With super low 0.15 Cd drag coefficient, Aptera 2e beats even the super aerodynamic GM EV1.

The two-seater 2e comes with airbags for the driver and passenger and a trunk space the company said is large enough to fit 15 bags of groceries or a couple of seven-foot-long surf boards. An expected cost will be between $25,000 and $45,000.
