All Hummers With Biofuel Capability by 2010
During the grand opening of a Dallas area dealership's E85 ethanol station, Hummer confirmed their plans to offer biofuel capability on all its vehicles by 2010.
Hummer's first production E85 models will be the 2009 H2 pickup and H2 SUT.
The 2010 Hummer H3 will be offered with a flex-fuel version of GM's direct injection 3.6L V-6 engine. Currently Hummer H3 is offered with a 5.3 V-8 five-cylinder gasoline engine.
General Motors plans to offer more than 15 FlexFuel models for the 2009 model year.
Classic Chevrolet-Hummer in Grapevine, Texas, spent more than $500,000 to install nine pumps dedicated to E85, E10 and biodiesel, according to a GM statement. The station is called Classic Clean Fuels and is next to the dealership's Hummer store.
Less than 1 percent of filling stations nationwide offer E85. GM wants to make Classic Clean Fuels the catalyst for other dealerships or alternative locations to sell biofuels.
Classic Chevrolet-Hummer is the first dealer-owned E85 station selling to the public.(read more)
