Mercedes-Benz Shooting Break Concept Car Revealed
Mercedes-Benz has revealed the Shooting Break Concept Car- a station wagon version for the CLS-Class - will make its world debut at this week's Beijing Motor Show.Wide and flat, with a long bonnet and a roof which continues through to the rear: the Shooting Break concept car features some astonishing proportions which at the same time are clearly reminiscent of another design icon - the CLS.
The Shooting Brake concept is 4960mm long, 1950mm wide and 1444mm tall and will feature a new gaping grille (same as in the new SLS AMG), headlamps with 71 LED units, a heavily angled rear window, top-hinged tailgate and large LED-enhanced tail-lights.
The design of the front is completely new, but makes use of elements which are mindful of the SLS AMG super sports car: the radiator grille, with the large star and eye-catching, bionic slats, is not integrated into the bonnet but has been designed separately in the form of a "soft nose".
The coupé-like side view is also emphasized with a low window design which also highlights the greenhouse with polished aluminum trim.
The Shooting Break concept provides the first official clues to the new range of V6 and V8 gasoline engines to be unveiled in August in the facelifted CL, or S-class Coupe as the big two-door will renamed.
They will be joined by a twin-turbocharged 2.1-liter four-cylinder common rail diesel rated at 204 hp and a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 diesel making 231 hp.
