Ford of Europe has expanded its environmentally friendly range with the introduction of a 2.0-liter 115bhp Mondeo ECOnetic with the lowest CO2 figure for the range.

It comes in estate and five-door form, each with a CO2 figure of just 139g/km and costing from £20,795.

The two-liter turbodiesel TDCi unit is mated to a six-speed transmission to achieve economy of 54mpg (45 mpg US), rising to 64mpg (53.3 mpg US) in highway cruising with a potential range of 800 miles.

Other emission-reducing ECOnetic features include low-rolling resistance tyres and an optimum gear change indicator, plus aerodynamics-enhancing sports suspension, air deflectors and a rear spoiler.

Inside, the no-compromise Ford Mondeo driving environment offers dual-zone automatic temperature control, Bluetooth connectivity with voice control, cruise control, seven airbags and Quickclear heated front windscreen.

ESP with Traction Assist and Emergency Brake Assist complete a standard features list that ensures the Ford Mondeo ECOnetic is as poised as it is efficient and comfortable.

The new models will be offered alongside the existing five-door or estate 1.8-liter diesel, 125PS Mondeo ECOnetic models.
